2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival: Justin Timberlake and Shawn Mendes Duet

This will go down as one of the biggest moments of the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival. Justin Timberlake opened the second night of the festival and brought out a very special guest. Shawn Mendes joined Timberlake on stage to perform "What Goes Around" with him and it was totally epic (to say the least.)

Timberlake brought the stadium to a standstill to introduce Mendes. The multi-talented performed told the crowd he wanted to do something really special for them. "He's one of the coolest cats I've ever met," Timberlake said of Mendes. He also went on to call the 20-year-old singer a "talented young man."

This must have been really special for Mendes, as well, as he's cited Timberlake as one of his biggest influences. When he released "Lost in Japan" off his third, self titled album Shawn Mendes, Mendes revealed in an interview that he was listening to a ton of Timberlake's music when he wrote that particular song. "I had this dream that I was lost in this country and I woke up the next day and we had this cool piano part and the song was birthed," he said of the track. Timberlake's influence is most apparent in Mendes's vocals, as well as the underlying R&B beats.

When their duet finished, Mendes and Timberlake shared a friendly hug that had the fans in the audience cheering so loud. Timberlake then wrapped up his set with a rousing rendition of "Can't Stop The Feeling." He also performed a slew of hits from his impressive repertoire, including "Sexy Back," "Man of the Woods," and "Cry Me A River." Mendes is set to take the stage on his own tonight, as well.

Was this collaboration everything you ever dreamed of? Just look at those smiles...
