Pink Pledges $500,000 Donation For Australian Bushfire Services

The 53rd Annual CMA Awards - Arrivals

Pink just vowed a half-a-million dollars to help frontline firefighters amid the Australian bushfire crisis.

“I am totally devastated watching what is happening in Australia right now with the horrific bushfires,” the singer tweeted early Saturday morning (January 4). “I am pledging a donation of $500,000 directly to the local fire services that are battling so hard on the frontlines. My heart goes out to our friends and family in Oz.”

Australians and fans alike praised the star for raising awareness with her generous donation. “This is amazing. We are in desperate need. And you have just shown the world what Australia is going through! We are so overcome with this support. We have needed this from such an amazing platform and you have paved the way. Bless your heart,” one user tweeted.

“From Australia, thank you Pink. Thank you for using your platform to display generosity, empathy, compassion & kindness. You are what genuine leadership looks like,” another commenter wrote.

According to Mirror Online, at least 20 people have died in the inferno as bushfires that started in September 2019 continue to spread across Australia. Dozens of other people have been reported missing and millions of the nation’s wildlife have also perished in the blaze.

What’s more, temperatures in Sydney are escalating so much that wind conditions are causing fire tornadoes and dry lighting in the area, sparking more blazes. As of last night (January 3), Victoria and New South Wales are still enduring 28 fires combined, while over 100 are still burning throughout the continent.
