Chris Martin Texted Emily Blunt 'A Quiet Place' Idea And She Ignored Him

Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland of Coldplay stopped by The Ellen Show on Wednesday (January 15) to chat about the band's recent album, Everyday Life, as well as perform “Cry, Cry, Cry” for the audience.

Martin, however, got a little sidetracked after the host played the new trailer for A Quiet Place: Part II and he had to share his hilarious anecdote with the talk show host.

“May I tell you a story?” he asked Ellen. “I know we didn't tell your researchers about this but I didn't know you were going to play that trailer.”

Ellen hesitantly agrees — and I'm glad she did because it's wild.

“When A Quiet Place came out, I had an idea for a joke afterwards. So I sent Emily Blunt and her husband [John Krasinski] this idea for the musical of A Quiet Place and it was just me like that,” the “Everyday Life” singer explained while mimicking silently playing a piano and mouthing words.

But it seems like Blunt didn't like the joke or didn't get it. “They never replied!” he laughed. “So every time I see that trailer it makes me feel sick! So I thought they must have thought I was taking the Mickey… I genuinely loved the film!”

Hopefully he'll hear back from the couple now that he opened up about the mishap on Ellen.
