Charlie Colin, one of the founding members of the band Train, has reportedly died unexpectedly at the age of 58.
The musician's mother told TMZ on Wednesday (May 22) that her son, whom she described as a beautiful human being, passed away in a tragic accident while house-sitting for a friend at their home in Brussels, Belgium, succumbing to his injuries after slipping and falling in the shower. It is unclear when the accident may have occurred, but his mother said he wasn't found until his friends returned to the home five days ago.
Colin was one of the founding members of Train, forming the band in the mid '90s in San Francisco and playing bass alongside fellow band members Pat Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Jimmy Stafford and Scott Underwood. He stayed with the band until leaving in 2003, winning two Grammy Awards the year prior for Best Rock Song and Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)," the outlet reports. The band has received mainstream success throughout its career for songs like "Drops of Jupiter" and "Hey, Soul Sister."
The musician's mother said he has been living in Brussels and teaching a music master class at a conservatory prior to his tragic death, also working at a studio and finishing up making music for a film.
