Jewel getting mixed reviews on Dayton 500 National Anthem

Jewel’s National Anthem performance at the Indy 500 has gotten some mixed reviews from fans. The singer took the main stage on Sunday to croon “The Star-Spangled Banner” decked out in a white outfit, a cowboy hat and a checkered head scarf. Her guitar always at the ready, she softly plucked away as she sang.

However, not everyone enjoyed the performance. One person commented online saying, she “butchered” the song, while another said, “jewel’s national anthem for indy 500 might be the worst anthem rendition to date.”

Fortunately for the singer, other reviews were much more supportive. One fan tweeted, “Jewel just did the best national anthem I’ve ever heard in my life I’m not exaggerating.” Another one said that “Jewel singing the national anthem at the Indy 500 is a thing I didn’t even know I needed.”
