California State University just announced a new initiative that will provide 35,000 incoming students with iPad Air tablets and Apple accessories. The CSUCCESS initiative is a partnership with Apple at eight of CSU's campuses. Starting this upcoming fall semester, first-year students and incoming transfer students will be able to register for the initiative and receive an iPad Air, Apple Pencil and Apple Smart Keyboard for as long as they're studying at CSU.

The purpose of the CSUCCESS program is to be able to "provide students who have a lack of access to a computer or mobile device an option to succeed by closing equity gaps and providing high-quality and reliable personal computing devices to support academic achievement. These tools will help eliminate barriers and improve student success and equitable graduation outcomes, which are among the CSU’s highest priorities."

The participating campuses include: Bakersfield, Channel Islands, Fresno, Humboldt, Los Angeles, Maritime Academy, Northridge and San Marcos. There are no income-based eligibility requirements to enroll in this program. All eligible student just have to register for the program directly with their respective campus. Students will receive a 64 GB iPad Air, Apple Smart Keyboard Folio, Apple Pencil, and Student technology support from their campus. Cal State Universities will load the device to students for the duration of their undergraduate education at the CSU and upon graduation, students will be asked to return their device.
